Remote Desktop - get connected anywhere anytime

What is Remote Desktop ?

Remote desktop allows user to use a computer to remotely control another computer over network, such as Internet.

How does it work ?

As compared to VPN which extends office network, remote desktop technology extends the reach of your office PC to wherever you are over the Internet. What you type on your home PC will be redirected to the remote office PC, and the screen of the office PC will be sent back to you. That allows you remotely use your office PC as if you are sitting in front of it in the office.

MYTH vs TRUTH

Myth Remote Desktop is too complicated to implement.

Truth Microsoft Windows XP Professional has built-in remote desktop support. If you are using operating system other than Windows XP Pro, free, operating system independent open source VNC (Virtual Network Computing) solution could be the choice for remote desktop computing.
